 Welcome to the South Cobb High School Academy of Research and Medical Sciences, a Cobb County Magnet Program which offers an accelerated and advanced curriculum, focusing on opportunities in research and medical sciences. The Academy at South Cobb is designed to attract Cobb County students who have a strong aptitude for math; science, and technology and are interested in a career in the research or medical fields. "Research" and "Medical Sciences" represent the two tracks of study that a student can pursue in the program. The Academy logo represents precision (straight lines), life science research (a DNA double-helix), and medical science and technology (the EKG cardiac cycle).

Students enter the Academy as freshmen through a competitive application process and progress through the coursework at an accelerated rate so that they can participate in courses beyond those found in traditional high schools. The rigorous, four-year program culminates in an advanced scientific research course and an accompanying field experience with local medical professionals, institutions of higher learning, professional groups, and business leaders.

Students accepted into the program become full-time South Cobb students and are eligible to participate in all extracurricular activities. Currently there are over 150 students in the program from freshman to senior level. Future career/study interests of the current students include surgery, pediatrics, ophthalmology, emergency medicine, psychology, anthropology, marine science, medical research, and many more. Magnet students are involved in school academic and athletic teams, clubs and school activities, and student council.
